ATELIERSOMEPIECE is an independent brand established in the spring of 2020. From designing to cutting, and from sewing to packaging, everything is done in our workroom by the seven members of our team. Our garments are made of degradable fibers such as cotton, flax, wool, silk, and ramie.

In nature, a seed grows into a plant, absorbs energy from the sun, flourishes, dies, and finally becomes the soil on which everything relies for survival. Stewardship of this continuity steers the making of every single one of our products, and we are firm in our belief that clothing emerging from this natural history brings a special kind of joy. But technology march on, unstoppable, so we also use a small number of recyclable or compostable synthetic materials. We never utilize single-use plastic.

Embracing the idea of self-expression through clothing instead of language, which has its limitations, we partner long-term with traditional dyeing and weaving workshops around the world to carry on their precious folk arts traditions and skills.

In the process, we cross paths with artists from all circles, collaborating with them, drawing new inspiration and exploring new ways of seeing the world.

Baudelaire said that “In all visible forms of social civilization, clothing most directly reflects people’s inner state.” These words inspire us and fuel our imagination. As a ruler measuring the passage of time, clothing is a gauge of each era’s cultural significance and progress. In our current times, we remain steadfast in seeking an aesthetics of balance, creating clothing that is at once poetic and highly wearable, clothing that attend us as abiding companions.
